IIT Hyderabad congratulates Ms. Sadia Basri, PhD student from Centre for Interdisciplinary Program, jointly working with Prof. Debraj Bhattacharyya, Department of Civil Engineering and Prof. Tarun K. Panda, Department of Chemistry, for receiving the Best Oral Presentation Award, a gift card worth 5000 JPY and a book voucher worth € 150 from Springer Nature, at the 19th International water association, IWA Conference on Sludge Management held in Kyoto, Japan.

Ms. Bhuvana Priya is working under the supervision of Dr.Ramya Mullapudi, Department of Civil Engineering.

His research focuses on areas such as earthquake-resistant design of structures, seismic hazard assessment, structural health monitoring, and earthquake early warning systems.

Mr. Rohit Dhondge has secured the first rank in the Civil Engineering category, a remarkable achievement that highlights his academic excellence and dedication.

Dr. Nitin Kumar, an alumnus of M.Tech student in the Department of Civil Engineering, was appointed Assistant Professor at IIT Patna after completing his PhD and Postdoctoral programs under the guidance of Prof. Amirtham Rajagopal, Department of Civil Engineering.

Prof. Mahendra Kumar Madhavan has been elected as a Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers UK and a Chartered Structural Engineer. Prof. Madhavan is the First Indian to be elected as a Fellow of four distinguished Civil / Structural Engineering Institutes / Societies.

Prof. K.B.V.N. Phanindra received the prestigious AGGS-FELLOW Award (2025) from the Association of Global Groundwater Scientists. This esteemed recognition highlights his outstanding contributions to the field of groundwater science.

Dr. Digvijay S. Pawar has been honored with the Best Faculty Research Excellence Award for the year 2025 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to research and innovation.

Dr. Surendra Nadh Somala , Associate Professor of Civil Engineering, has been elected as an INSA Young Associate. This award aims to recognize the potential of young scientists in the country and to motivate and cultivate their excellence. The process for the election of INSA Young Associates and INSA Associate Fellows will be initiated in 2024.

Harsha Vardhan Pallam (MTech student), under the guidance of Dr. Seetha N, from the Department of Civil Engineering, has received the Best Oral Presentation certificate at the First International Conference on Circular Economy for Sustainable Water Management (SuWaM-2022) organized by IIT Madras.


Dr. Ramu (IITH Alumnus) from the Department of Civil engineering, jointly supervised by Prof.Sireesh & Prof.Umashankar in the Department of Civil Engineering, has been offered the position of Assistant Professor at IIT Patna.

Dr. Hemanth (IITH Alumni) from the Department of Civil Engineering, under the supervision of Dr. Anil Agarwal in the Department of Civil Engineering, has been selected for the position of Assistant Professor at IIT Dharwad.
