Dr. Hironobu Nishi is the Head of Research Laboratory, Technical Division, FLOWRIC Co., Ltd. (a member of Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.). He also serves as a Visiting Professor at Tokyo City University and a Senior Lecturer at the Tokyo University of Science. Born in Osaka in 1976, Dr. Nishi received his B.E. in Architecture from Kogakuin University (1999). He initially worked in construction site management at a general contractor before joining FLOWRIC Co., Ltd. in 2002, where he was assigned to the Concrete Laboratory. He later pursued advanced research at Hokkaido University, earning his Ph.D. in Resources Circulation and Material Science in 2014. Over his career, he has held several leadership positions, including Chief Examiner and Senior Researcher in the R&D Concrete Research Laboratory, and since 2022, he has been the Head of the Research Laboratory. Dr. Nishi’s expertise spans construction materials and concrete engineering, including chemical admixtures, hydraulic binders, cement chemistry, dispersion and flocculation, shrinkage-reducing agents, environmental considerations, and resource circulation. He also has extensive experience in concrete technology in Southeast Asia. He is an active member of several professional societies, including the Architectural Institute of Japan, Japan Society of Civil Engineers, Japan Concrete Institute, and Japan Society of Resource Material Science. He has significantly contributed to the major revision of the Standard Specifications for Reinforced Concrete Construction by the Architectural Institute of Japan
