The Department of Civil Engineering, in collaboration with the IGS-IITH Student Chapter, had the honour of hosting Prof. S. R. Gandhi, a renowned geotechnical engineer and Visiting Professor at IIT Gandhinagar, for a highly informative invited lecture titled “Construction and Monitoring of Deep Excavation with Diaphragm Wall for Underground Metro Stations in Chennai,” on 15th April 2025 The session focused on the intricacies of diaphragm wall construction, monitoring strategies for underground metro infrastructure, and challenges encountered during the Chennai Metro Rail Project.
