Ocean Data and Information System of INCOIS - Empowering Ocean Data and Value-Added services

Dr. T.V.S. Udaya Bhaskar is a senior ocean scientist and data systems expert at INCOIS. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from Acharya Nagarjuna University and earlier degrees in Mathematics (Hons) from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning. His key research and technical expertise include: Quality control and management of in-situ oceanographic observations, particularly Argo float data for the Indian Ocean, where he has played a central role in establishing India’s Argo data management and quality control framework. Mixed layer and sonic layer variability in the upper ocean, with applications to climate and monsoon studies. Development of software systems and data services for ocean data visualization, archiving, and dissemination, including the Ocean Data and Information System (ODIS) and Live Access Server (LAS) at INCOIS. Integration of multi-source datasets—in-situ, satellite, and model-based—for the derivation of key ocean parameters such as mixed layer depth and oxygen variability.
